Features of the Website

  • History of Vermilion Parish, La., Volume 1 (1983) 

    A completely indexed 485-page collection of family stories, historical topics, photographs, and other information related to the history of the parish.  This book is still available for ordering.

  • History of Vermilion Parish, La., Volume 2 (2003) 

    The 620-page continuation of the work begun in Volume 1, with more family stories, historical essays, tribute pages, old photographs, and the addition of thousands of historically interesting excerpts from the Abbeville Meridional and other newspapers through the year 1900.

  • Abbeville Model Village Project 

    Lighted miniature models of some of the beautiful historic buildings of downtown Abbeville, Louisiana.  The St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, the beautiful and distinctive Bank of Abbeville, the magnificent Palms Hospital, the first Abbeville High School, and the Vermilion Parish Courthouse may be ordered by printing out the order form.

  • Slide Presentations of the history of Abbeville 

    Topics from the history of Abbeville presented in the form of PowerPoint® slide shows.  These presentations were first made to meetings of the Vermilion Historical Society with verbal narrative by Gary Theall and Ken Dupuy..

    Selected topics from the history of Vermilion Parish, from various sources, concerning important people and events, including articles by Kenneth A. Dupuy, Gary E.
